La Belle's Hobby Farm: Death of a Garden

Odd as I am sure it will appear to some, I can think of no better form of personal involvement in the cure of the environment than that of gardening. A person who is growing a garden, if he is growing it organically, is improving a piece of the world. He is producing something to eat, which makes him somewhat independent of the grocery business, but he is also enlarging, for himself, the meaning of food and the pleasure of eating.
~ Wendell Berry, The Art of the Commonplace: The Agrarian Essays

In October, I am writing about all things autumnal: from art to spooky books, author interviews, recipes, and autumn-inspired writing prompts AND participating in the Two Pages-a-Day writing challenge.

M
y autumn garden update today is wordless.  And why not? It’s raining, it’s cold, and I’d rather be writing about spooky books and fall recipes.  So enjoy these pictures of my garden in the slow stages of demise (Bwhahahaa!) and check back to tomorrow for a ghastly book review and some warm gingerbread.

What seeds are you saving this year?

October Blog Challenge: Paranormal Fiction: Interviews and Reviews

There is something in October sets the gypsy blood astir:
We must rise and follow her,
When from every hill of flame
She calls, and calls each vagabond by name.
~ William Bliss

I
always feel a little deflated after a blog challenge has ended.  It’s almost the same ache that appears after I finish the last book in an incredible series.

So what better way to ease the ache than by hosting my own personal challenge ~ one that includes books?

For the month of October, I’ll be reading old books, new books, and interviewing a couple of my favorite paranormal authors and highlighting their new releases, as well as bringing you all things autumn: recipes, writing prompts, event pictures and a Vintage Halloween Hunt!

After all, it is October and Halloween is only 30 days away!

Here are some of the authors I’ll be highlighting this month:

Dannika Dark
Kimberly Derting
Elizabeth Hunter
K.N. Lee
Amber Lynn Natusch

And of course, I’m continuing my two-pages-a-day challenge so that by January, I’ll have a rough draft of my own!
